Fading with Waves

“Every film should have its own world, a logic and feel to it that expands beyond the exact image that the audience is seeing.”— Christopher Nolan. I created these films to give shape to emotions that often go unspoken. My thesis comprises four works—CHAOS 01, Ella, Hold Me Until I’m Gone, and The Frame—each delving into the silent struggles of grief, isolation, and the human need for connection. Through restrained visuals and immersive soundscapes, I aimed to capture the moments where internal turmoil quietly surfaces. In Hold Me Until I’m Gone, a boy is ensnared in a loop, reliving the death of his girlfriend, unable to move beyond the moment of loss. CHAOS 01 portrays the relentless pressure of emotional burnout, with a performer trapped in a cycle of repetitive calls. Ella offers a glimpse into the desensitization of a 911 operator, where trauma becomes routine. The Frame presents a woman navigating grief, not through dramatic outbursts, but through subtle, everyday actions that reveal her inner pain. My research into narrative structure and psychological realism informed these pieces, allowing me to create intimate portraits that resonate on a personal level. Together, they form a cohesive exploration of how individuals process trauma and seek solace, inviting viewers to reflect on their own experiences and emotions.
